A very British response to a crisis

Since re-purposing our Gloucester workrooms and our machinists turning their hand to the production of NHS scrubs, we noticed several of our colleagues, peers and friends, across the industry and beyond, doing their bit to celebrate and support our key workers and NHS staff. We thought we would share some of those we felt you’d enjoy, in what is proving to be a very British response to this very global crisis.



Coffee drops by Climpson & Sons

Innovators of the city’s artisanal coffee scene and friend of Turnbull, Climpson & Sons Coffee is best known for their Broadway Market outpost and sourcing, roasting and creating the finest coffees in East London. To show their support for the NHS, for every Great British Pound donated to NHS-related charities through climpsonandsons.com, they will donate the equivalent in coffee to hospitals across the capital.

Organic veg boxes by Henri London

Henri London – Hackney Road’s outfitter for ethically made womenswear – have teamed up with organic produce supplier, Pale Green Dot, to turn their now-empty shop into a vegetable box distribution centre. Redirecting homegrown, organic and seasonal produce you’d expect to grace your plate at London’s best restaurants for home delivery is such an ingenious response to the global crisis. Every week, nominations open for you to nominate your loved ones working on the front line to receive a veg box.

Brompton bicycles for the NHS

British institution and folding bike specialists, Brompton Bicycles, have launched the ‘Wheels for Heroes’ campaign to support NHS and other key workers get to work safely and healthily. With 500 individuals initially signing up for the scheme, Brompton has since set up a crowd funder to produce 1000 more bikes, which will remain available to key worker to hire for free once the crisis is over.

Gift a pair of Grensons

Esteemed Northamptonshire shoemakers, Grenson, are kindly donating a pair of their beautiful shoes to an NHS worker every day throughout the global crisis. Inspired by his daughter, owner and Creative Director, Tim Little, inviting you to nominate yourself or those that you know fighting on the frontline via Instagram using the hashtag #grensonheroes.

And for something a bit different... Sir Patrick Stewart’s sonnets

Finally, for much needed light relief we turn to one of our greatest Britons, Sir Patrick Stewart. The acting giant, known for his extensive work on stage as well as higher-profile roles sci-fi classics such as Star Trek and the X-Men franchise, who it turns out, is quite savvy on the socials is delighting us all here at Turnbull with a daily Shakespearean sonnet via his IGTV.
