The Rockland shirt may be a brand new piece for Turnbull & Asser but it is based on an archive design. Dubbed Garment 57, the original shirt was returned to the company, along with several other prized possessions, for safekeeping after the death of its owner, a World War II pilot. The Rockland is a luxury interpretation of beach shirt and is thus essential holiday attire; the short-sleeved construction is detailed with piping, two front pockets and an appropriately named Resort collar for an utterly relaxed look. The navy spotted pattern is a smart, preppy alternative to garish island creations.
T&A shirts are handmade in our Gloucester factory, using hand-worked sewing machines operated by seamstresses with a wealth of experience. The patterns are cut from the highest quality cotton, with the separate pieces expertly brought together to create the final design. We finish the shirt with ethically sourced mother-of-pearl buttons, which are thermally fused to ensure they never loosen with wear; two branded collar stays are then placed into the collar for aesthetic and functional precision.
